Without further ado, here are five Halloween costume ideas to inspire you.

DIY Wednesday Addams Halloween costume.

Halloween Costume Idea #1: Wednesday Addams

Key details: your favorite little black dress with a white collar, cute black shoes, and it’s not pictured but two braided pigtails.

If you’re looking to add some spooky factor into your Halloween costume this year, what could be better than one of Halloween’s most beloved characters straight from the Addams family.

Grab your collared black dress as well as some cute black shoes, heels optional, and create two pigtails. Braid them and just like that, you’re everyone’s favorite Halloween darling.

DIY Betty Boop Halloween costume.

Halloween Costume Idea #2: Betty Boop

Key details: a miniature red dress, red high-heeled pumps, gold bangles, gold hoop earrings, and a red garter (completely optional if you want).

Unleash your inner sex icon (yes, I said that) with one of the world’s most recognizable female icons in history. Channel your inner Betty Boop by combining a form-fitting red dress, red heels to match, and some golden jewelry. Oh, and don’t forget to add some red lipstick and you’ll be on your way. 😉

DIY Stranger Things Barb Halloween costume.

Halloween Costume Idea #3: Stranger Things’ Barbara ‘Barb’ Holland

Key details: a great pair of mom jeans, vintage glasses, a plaid/ruffled top, brown boots, and a Composition notebook to keep track of everything, of course.

Although Barb is no longer in Stranger Things 2, let alone the majority of Season 1, Nancy Wheeler’s best friend is still a key character in both seasons as well as our lives. If you’re a die-hard vintage fan, this look is definitely right up your alley.

Grab your favorite pair of mom jeans along with a printed or ruffled top, some brown booties, oversized vintage glasses, as well as notebook and you’re all set! Just be sure to stay away from dangerous looking monsters please. Can you tell I’m still not over her death, lol.

DIY Grease Sandy Halloween Costume.

Halloween Costume Idea #4: Grease’s Sandy, Leather version

Key details: A leather jacket, black pants, an off the shoulder top, a black belt, red heels, gold earrings, and a red lip.

If you’re ready to break some hearts, this bad girl glow up costume is right for you.

Probably one of the most funnest costumes to recreate, this bad girl look is, put simply, an all-black outfit combined with some gold jewelry and a couple of hot red shoes as well as some killer red lipstick. In some variations of this costume, I’ve noticed that some people have used a crop top instead of a long shirt, so feel free to decide which one works for you.

DIY Risky Business Halloween costume.

Halloween Costume Idea #5: Joel Goodsen (Tom Cruise) in Risky Business

Key details: an oversized button-up shirt, black shorts, and socks. Shoes are entirely optional but are highly recommended.

If you haven’t chosen any of the ones previous to this, I’ve saved the easiest costume for last. If you’ve ever seen this gif or watched Risky Business before, you may know who I’m talking about.

Using an oversized button-up combined with some black shorts and white socks, you’re really all set to go as Joel Goodsen. You probably might want to consider wearing a pair of sneakers; this way your feet will be protected from any of the spooky things you might step on this year.

  5. DIY costumes is definitely the way to go for me. I refuse to spend a lot of money on something I can only wear once. I will have to use your ideas for next Halloween!

    1. I feel the same way! I don’t feel that comfortable knowing that I’d be spending a lot of money for something I won’t be able to use again. I’m so glad to hear that, too! I can’t wait to see what costume you’ll choose. x
