Usually, I tend to blog more about fashion more than anything
passion for fashion anyone?, but I thought it would be nice to change things up every once in a while, especially since this blog is also about lifestyle as well.
For me, everything I do – from visiting a local spa to sharing some tips and tricks to mastering phone photography – is what makes up this part of my blog. So, from here on, I’m going to try best to add more content like this.
But don’t worry, there will still be a ton of fashion posts. 😉
- Valentine’s Day Skincare with Beautycounter
- Bath Time with Rock the Bath Bar
- Daytime Hair Routine for Short Hair
Going back on topic, I love taking care of my skin. Period. But that doesn’t mean my skin is flawless at all.
Like most people, I suffer from acne, scarring, and pigmentation issues
like the kind where it’s uneven, just to name a few. And boy did it used to be baaaaad, especially during my college years.
Nowadays, thanks to meditation
your girl gets stressed over everything, aka hello unwanted acne, watching my diet mostly, lol, and learning about my skin every day, my skin is looking clearer than ever before thanks to these products I’ll be listing down below.
Activated charcoal is pretty much in everything nowadays
like ice cream, so it’s not that surprising that it would be in skincare, too. What makes this kind of charcoal different is that it contains oxygen, making it 10x better at cleansing and removing impurities.
If you haven’t jumped aboard just yet, here’s some amazing benefits from using a charcoal cleanser:
- firms and tightens skin
- shrinks enlarged pores
- treats oily skin and acne
- helps prevent premature aging
- reduce the appearance of blackheads
Having been using charcoal products a little over 3 months, I can say with confidence that it helped clear up my skin so well. Plus, if the list above were a checklist, I’d have them all checked off by now. 😉
With that in mind, my two favorite activated charcoal products come in mask and bar soap form.
Biore’s Pore Penetrating Charcoal Bar was actually my first charcoal product. I got it for sale at Walmart by clicking here after hearing lots of good thing about adding it to your skin regimen. Plus, it also helps that your all-time favorite fashion blogger loves the same brand.
Thank you, Chriselle!
The other charcoal infused product I got from Walmart is Freeman’s Polishing Charcoal + Black Sugar Gel Mask/Scrub. It says that it “instantly detoxes pores + exfoliates for smooth skin”, and after having tried it myself, I can’t stop using it.
What I love about this product is that it’s dual action; the black sugar brightens and removes dead skin while the charcoal helps my skin breathe by absorbing oil and pollutants. I’ve only been using it once every week, but I’m thinking of doing it twice when I have more free time to get the natural glow.
Next up are the creams. I hate to admit, but I’m not used to spelling cream like this
I like spelling it as creme instead. These products are one of the most important skincare products you need to use every day.
First things first is my day cream. Since I have issues with discoloration and acne scars, I’m currently using Pond’s Clarant B3 Dark Spot Correcting Cream. Having bought this from Walmart, this product says that it works for normal to dry skin, but I think it can work with combination skin since that’s my skin type
it might be because of the charcoal products I’ve been using, too.
Like every skin product, changes don’t happen that fast and this product is one of them; it evens skin tone in 2 weeks and reduces the appearance of dark spots in four. So, if you’re not the patient type, you may want to look elsewhere. Still, I highly recommend it seeing as it did lighten up my acne scars and made my skin tone more balanced out.
As for night cream, I have the choice to continue using Pond’s or a favorite of mine: Olay’s Classic Age Defying Cream. My mom is actually the reason why I love Olay and anti-aging products; you can say she got me hooked since I’ve been using Olay since middle school. I haven’t actually been using this on my face very often as I’m trying to even out my skin, but I do love using it on my neck and my chest. The skin there is extremely delicate, making it easy for people to guess how old you actually are.
I may be a little biased, but Olay has never let me down.
We’re about to celebrate 8 years together, baby.
Another night cream I use is one you may already seen before. A while ago, I had the chance to test out some BeautyCounter products, and I still have a couple of them, one being the Nourishing Night Cream. Made out of algae and caffeine, it reduces puffiness and the appearance of wrinkles.
To be frank, I’m still learning more about eye creams, but I’m loving the results I’m seeing!
Lastly, the other cream I use comes in lotion form. Eucerin’s Daily Protection Face Lotion, it not only makes the perfect sunscreen, it’s also lightweight and won’t clog up my pores. I also use it on my hands when it’s sunny out since I apply the Pond’s cream on.
Are there times you were too lazy to take your makeup off? I totally feel you. It was even more difficult whenever I’d come home late, too; at this time, all I want to do is kick off my heels and go to sleep.
But it’s common knowledge that sleeping in makeup is one of the worst ways to hurt your skin.
While there are still days where I’ve dozed off in my eyeliner, I’m so happy to have Garnier’s Micellar Cleansing Water by my side for my lazy girl days. Originally coming from France, Micellar water has become huge in the United States, and it’s pretty easy to see why.
While it does look like water
I can’t tell you how many times I’ve almost drank from it- I’m that absentminded, it’s really not. There are tiny, little oil molecules called micelles that help purify, cleanse, and remove makeup with a single swipe.
Now I don’t think it’s the best alternative to thoroughly washing your face, but it’s still a great product to invest in.
When I do wash my face with my charcoal soap, I use this amazing toner from The Holistic Science Company. Containing Rose and Hibiscus, two of my favorite flowers, it’s a corrective facial toner and an anti-aging skin freshener.
Since I’ve been using it, especially on my eyelids where the skin tones are different, I’ve noticed that it’s more even out
and this is before I used Pond’s. Plus, it smells like you just came from a garden, so that’s a win-win for this flower lovin’ gal.
Now, all I need are some masks, serums, and anything anti acne now.
Or maybe I should give that 22 step Korean skincare thing since I’m already in too deep.
Bonus: I’m currently obsessed with this perfume from Dior, and I had to take a cute product shoot for it.
