Have you ever owned a piece
or pieces, if you get what I mean 😉 and find yourself wearing it nonstop? That pretty much sums up my ongoing relationship with a certain pair of high waisted vintage jeans.
One might say I could be obsessed, and they’re right- I am obsessed…
Obsessed with how versatile they are.
No matter what I wear, I can count on my favorite high waisted vintage jeans to save the day
and outfit. You probably may not know this, but these jeans were from my mom’s old teenage closet. Being a lover of all things vintage, I felt like I hit the jackpot after finding these; normally, Levi’s are pretty pricey, especially a vintage piece like this one, so you can imagine how excited I was when I got mine for free who doesn’t like free stuff??

Plus, as funny as this may sound, it’s like these 90’s high waisted jeans connected me and my mom in a special kind of way. You see, when I was growing up, my mom was and still is one of my style icons.
I remember admiring her then minimalist closet as a kid. Full of statement clothing, my mom transformed everyday basics into an effortless look, even if she’s just wearing a pair of high waisted Levi’s with an oversized t-shirt from U2, one of her favorite brands back then. Since then, I’ve aspired to be like her while following my own style.
Style ProTip: So, if you have the chance to raid your mom or dad’s closet, go for it. You never know what treasures you can find. Trust me, it’s worth it. 😉
I like to say I feel like I’m pretty darn close, well at least in my own right.
Top: Cotton On | Jeans: Vintage Levi’s | Bag: Koko Couture | Shoes: Christian Siriano | Ring: from my mom
With my high waisted vintage denim, I wore this crochet sleeveless top from Cotton On. It might look simple, but the detailing on the sleeves and the neck area stood out to me
I love interesting pieces.
Once again, I’m wearing my favorite Koko Couture Chrissie handbag paired with Christian Siriano floral printed slingbacks I recently got not too long ago. I’ve been loving the floral trend to a certain extent, so this is just my way of wearing one of 2017’s hottest spring trends.
As for jewelry, I decided to wear this huge bejeweled ring my mom got for me. I don’t wear rings very often, but I love this one since it’s a statement piece, even when used by itself.
So, there you have it- the real reason why I love wearing these Levi’s mom jeans. While they make my ootds look amazing 24/7, the fact that they were once my mom’s means a great deal to me
maybe I should have posted this on Mother’s Day. After all, it feels darn good to own something your favorite style icon wore, right?
