How to wear the Pajama Trend

Happy Valentine’s Day!! Regardless if you celebrate it or not, it’s still a fun day to get dressed up, right? It also happens to be my boyfriend and I’s monthly anniversary, so today is extra special for me.

Before I get into my actual Valentine’s Day OOTD, I’m going to share with you a story about my style evolution it’ll be brief, I promise.

Back when I was a wee, little child, I had a very common misconception on the world of fashion. I thought you always had to wear high heels and clothes that really weren’t that comfortable.

Cuz, yenno, you had to be uncomfortable to be considered fashionable, right?

As much as I love Victoria Beckham, this scene from the Spice Girls movie (start at 0:44) was a large influence in the early days of my personal style. And you would not believe how often I wore heels and my versions of my own Gucci dress.

So, when Posh Spice was told that she had to give up her heels for the sake of her health, it made me wonder some things.

“Would I be like that someday?”

“What if it’ll be worse for me?”

But it really started like this.

After all, I did have a legitimate reason to worry: I’ve been wearing heels ever since I was in third grade.

Plus, if you wear heels for long periods of time, or in my case, my nearly my entire life, you’re at risk for things like lower abdominal pain, ingrown nails, arthritis in both your knees and ankles, and bunions.

And the sad part? I’m only naming a few.

Fast forward to today, I’m still a heels kind of gal at heart despite having back problems. I know I won’t be able to give them up completely, but I do know that my overall wellbeing is important to me, too.

And that, my friend, is how we’ll be diving in to today’s comfy yet chic OOTD.

Turtleneck Bodysuit: Salud Shoppe | Bralette: I don’t remember, lol | Pasties: Hidden Delicates | PJs: Unknown | Coat: Banana Republic | Shoes: Qupid

Also, please ignore the dog fur- my dogs really like to roll around on my clothes before I go out and I unfortunately forgot to bring my lint roller. Sigh.

Probably gonna retake this later or something.

If you’ve been following me for a while, you’ll know that I’m a minimalist by heart. Simplicity is key, and I try to reflect that on with the clothes I wear.

So, I chose black and pink as my main colors.

I kept my outerwear, bodysuit, and oxfords black while I used these pink pajama bottoms as wide-legged culottes since its Valentine’s Day and all.

Yeah, I know- it’s so weird to be wearing your favorite ‘jammies as part of your everyday look. But hey, it can be done. Like, come on, slips were a thing last year- that’s lingerie for ya.

When going for a look like this, I suggest that your pj’s aren’t too long because 1) you wouldn’t want to drag them on the floor and 2) shorter hems look better with heels/sneakers/flats or whatever kind of footwear you like.

It’s one of those outfits that instantly give off this cool girl vibe despite having your bottoms be your night wear.

  1. Once inhad my daughter I have to admit my heels got shorter and shorter. I have a pair of designer heels that I haven’t worn in 7 years bc I just can’t walk in them anymore but I refuse to let them go!!!!

    1. I feel like I’ll be that way, too! I have a few pairs of designer heels – ones I can’t really wear anymore – but I can’t let them go. They’re too special to me.

  2. Omg I love this idea! I’ve always had a hard time with heels, especially when I worked in the restaurant industry where we had to. I love this comfy look, and even better that it looks good with flats. Thanks for sharing!

    1. I’m glad to hear that you love it! Yeah, it really does work well with flats; I tested out different types of footwear before posting this. x

  3. That’s what I love about being a fashion blogger myself. I am free to do whatever I want in regards to fashion. It’s my creation. There really are no rules … we should just wear what we want!

  4. I would have never guessed that you were wearing pajama pants. I actually don’t own any pajamas. Hahahaha, I just always wear a T-shirt to bed. I also used to think that wearing heels were the only way to look fashionable. I look back and can’t believe I used to wear heels when I went shopping. I could never do that now! 🙂

    1. Haha, yeah- a lot of people didn’t know they were pjs until I told them . x) I used to wear a shirt to bed as well, but I started to wear pajamas because I get too cold easily. I used to do the same thing, too! Nowadays, I prefer a good oxford or pointed flat. x

  5. I had a first date on Valentine’s day, so maybe next year it will be my anniversary too. I just wore a little green lace dress which was fitting. I had to wear it to work, a sporting event, and then the date. loving those pants though. They look so comfy!

    1. Your dress sounds so lovely! I’m glad that you were able to have such a versatile outfit for Valentine’s Day, though. Thank you so much, girl! I hope you’ll have an anniversary next year, too. x

  6. Hope you had an amazing anniversary with your love 🙂 I personally love and hate high heels. there are times where I love wearing them but majority of the time, I’m always wearing flats/sneakers. I used to wear heels all the time (well, platforms) back in highschool – not sure how I did it since I always walked to school – now a days I love being comfy. PS you look awesome in your photos girl 😉

    1. Thank you, I did. Girl, that is an achievement in itself; I wore block heels to school and it was hard (my school had a lot of hills, so that’s probably why, haha). Thank you so much! x

    1. I still can’t believe it myself at times! For most of my youth, I was a tomboy (I still am today, but not really if you get what I mean), but I did love a cute block heel. x

  7. omg i still remember the first time i was obsessed with heels. When I was two, I sprained my ankle because I loved heels and wanted to live in my aunt’s high heels. I guess I tripped and hurt myself!

    1. I feel you on that one! I did the same with my mom’s heels when I was little, and I found out not too long ago that I can still sprain my ankle at times. x
